First of all, the key to weight loss is to EAT LESS. Seriously, I live in Japan and they eat really unhealthy food, but they just eat less in general. Its a nation of rail thin people!! They have a principle when they eat; stop eating when you feel about 60-80% full. I started doing that and I went from 220lbs to 200lbs in about 6 weeks. Im now around 180lbs, but I don't do any exercise and I don't eat particularly healthy. I just ate a bag of peanut M&Ms, actually. I just eat less overall and try to keep my food varied and different, so I get all my nutrients.

Walking is good exercise, so stick to that. Eventually graduate to something more strenuous.

If you REALLY want to lose some pounds without any kind of surgery, then set yourself a big goal and accomplish it. Something remarkable like hiking the appalachian trail or going on a spiritual pilgrimage in Japan, India, or through Europe. Ive done those things before and the weight will fall off you faster than you would have thought possible and as long as you stick to eating at 80% after you're finished, it will stay off.

Well, those are my answers from someone who has gained, lost, gained, learned my lesson and finally lost a lot of weight.
