OMG am soooo pi55ed off right now (Girls Only)
  • Ok, so I went and saw the specialist up at the hospital today because I have been bleeding for 6.5 weeks and my GP had ordered every test and scan possible with still no answers. The specialist looked me up and down as I entered the room, which made me feel really uncomfortable. He asked me why I was there and I said, "well because I've been bleeding for 6.5 weeks and my GP had scanned me and taken blood tests with still no answer". He didn't even look at the scan and rudely proceeded to blame me for him not getting the fax that my GP sent through (which my GP had sent through but the hospital lost somewhere), then he said "well you're bleeding because your grossly overweight, I don't need scans to tell me that". He then said to "come back and see me in 6 months when you've dropped 40kgs, then I'll think about helping you". I tried to explain that the irregular bleeding is not normal for me but he dismissed me. He then did up a referral to see the hospital dietician because he doesn't agree with Tony Ferguson, and doesn't believe i'm trying hard enough, even though i've lost 4kgs in 4 weeks (according to home scales). He said "4kgs in 4 weeks is not good enough and I should be trying harder".

    OMG I am so upset right now. I've been fat for 10yrs, why should I all of a sudden start bleeding for 6.5 weeks? FFS! We go to specialists because they are a last resort because our GP's have tried everything, we expect them to help us. What am I meant to do? Bleed for 6 months straight whilst I somehow burn myself up trying to lose 40kgs in 6 months??!! AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

    Heading back to the GP next week to get a 2nd referral to a different specialist.

    I sometimes don't understand how people working with other people can be so rude, obnoxious and simply blooming lacking in empathy... Specially when you are there because you are worried about your health

    Ena|||ohh hun!!!! i can fully sympathise with you here - what a rude arrogant pig !!!! Ring your gp, and ask them for another copy of your referral - tell the receptionist what happened, and they should be able to just print you one out.|||I went to my GP's office, broke down in the middle of reception and then the nurse took me to a spare room and sat with me for a while listening. She said they would never send me back to that doctor again, and then made an appt for me with my GP so I can explain to him how I was treated.|||SOOO NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

    Sorry you had to go through that... I really hope you or your doctor makes a complaint.

    |||What a horrible experience!  He's a total jerk... seiosuly what is it with some people and their superiority complexes that they think it's ok to treat people like s***.

    Hopefully you get a referral to someone who listens to you and helps you sort out this issue asap!|||I hope this doctor(?) has paid his professional liability insurance because to just disregard your symptoms as he did seems to be grossly negligent... have you thought about issuing your own complaint? A lot of hassle I know..|||Wow ....what a $#@$#^$  But seriously, he acted negligently and you should definitely complain!! He has a duty of care and he did not fulfil it. I can't believe how rude he was so many times in your consult. He deserves to be named and shamed somehow, just imagine all the other people who need medical attention and are being met with unreasonable suggestions and no help or concern?? Definitely go see another specialist! Being in the medical field, you'd think he would care about your health ultimately. I am no doctor, but if your not someone who can drop 5kg a week, 40kg in 6 months is insane & very unhealthy. Not to mention in all of this, the emotional effect this experience would have had on you! I am very proud of your weightloss & I believe you will be able to maintain it. Don't worry about anything he has said and come on forum if you need support or are feeling down. It was very clever of you to come on when you were upset and not bottle it up. I hope you are feeling better now   xx|||first of all this doctor is an absolute moron and A has no idea what he is talking about and B has left himself open for legal action.

    I am not sure what kind of specialist your doc has sent you to but if they havent already please demand they send to to a gyne.
