but im a little concerned cos in another thread you've mentioned feeling ill after work outs.... are you pregnant...?
I have taken a pregnancy test, it was negative.. I'm sure that they'll prob take another one at my appt, as they usually do, so that will be good.

well alright... just my mum was irregular for years (she used to weigh less than me, but shes a bigg-ish woman), then completely missed her period (something that happened often(figuring, finally she was going into menopause - something she thought she was leading up to for years)).... turned out she was 7 months pregnant and the baby came a month early... so it was just my thought. :)
When I was your age and first on the pill I used to skip multiple periods. It might be the pill you are on is not right for you.

Yeah :) I watch that show on TLC.. "I didn't know I was pregnant" or whatever it's called.. it always makes me so worried! That's crazy that it happened to your mom.. it must have been such a shock! It'll be good to know for sure!
well yeah but my mum is also... um... 43.... and im turning 24 soon.. so its a good 23 years between me and my 23 yr old brother, and the new one... she didnt think it could happen.
I've never heard of being overweight causing a woman to skip periods... being underweight can do that, but I don't think overweight.
Obesity absolutely causes cycle irregularity and infertility. Sometimes losing weight can actually trigger ovulation and it can regulate your cycles as well. I *think* this has something to do with estrogen and testosterone storage in fat. Amenorrhea due to low body weight causes LH asn FSH hormones to be supressed.
My doctor attributes my 3-5 periods a year to obesity. I was put on BCP at 22 and just went off Nuvaring (I'm 27). If I am now regular at a normal weight, then that will be the proof that my obesity was the cause of the many issues I had.
As for OP, I do second someone's suggestion of going to Planned Parenthood for a "pill consult". However, since you are having fewer than 4 periods a year I would strongly recommend a routine exam to investigate any potential problems. I know it's far from pleasant, but I just repeat, "it's only a couple of minutes, it's only a couple of minutes..."
If your birth control is the pill, an easy way to remember to take it each day is to set your cell phone to ring you a reminder at the same time every day.
If you are sexually active, without effective birth control, it could very well happen :preg:
This is what i do. I've done this for 8 years. It works for me!
