Q&A:Weight loss affected period?
  • Question
3 years ago I became vegetarian (right around time I started puberty) and lost about 7lbs. 2 Years later I started excersizing a lot and lost even more weight. I am 17 but have only gotten my period like 3 times in my life. I am normal weight now, still excersizing a lot and vegetarian but why hasn't my period come back?

I suggest seeing an OBGYN and a nutritionist. I've been vegetarian for 9 years and have been regular as a clock O.o Your problem is probably due to a lack of nutrition (lots of vegetarians don't know how to eat healthy), a hormonal imbalance, or something actually wrong with your reproductive system. I'm guessing most people will get on here and curse the vegetarian lifestyle...they don't really know what they're talking about.

What is your diet like? What do you normally eat every day? How many calories do you consume in a day? Also, for how long do you exercise and what do you typically do?
